As North Split crews wrap up their work for 2022, we want to thank all who have been impacted by construction for your patience, perseverance and civility.

During the course of the year, nearly 400 customers reached out to the project team via INDOT4U. Your questions and concerns were always legitimate, and we tried to answer questions and respond to requests as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Please continue to use INDOT4U to get in touch with the project team.

A project as complex as the North Split reconstruction is challenging in the best of times, and as we've found, can be extremely difficult when materials are in short supply and lead times lengthen.

But a lot was accomplished this year and many important project milestones were reached. You can see some of these milestones on our social media accounts.

As North Split construction continues into 2023, there will be several milestones to look forward to. The original construction schedule was adjusted due to supply chain issues related to critical construction materials and workforce challenges for the contractor partner.

Here are some anticipated milestones for 2023:

• Ohio Street is scheduled to reopen to traffic in January, relieving traffic back-ups on New York.
• Motorists are anticipated to drive I-70 through the north and south splits by the end of January. 
• Following the opening of the I-70 movements, crews will work to open one lane to allow I-65 northbound traffic to continue onto I-70 eastbound.
• The rest of the interchange, including all I-65 movements, is anticipated to be open in April.
