Overpass bridge closure on U.S. 31 at 146th St.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Weddle Brother LLC. to start work on U.S. 31 at 146th St. overpass bridge on or after Friday, June 24, at 8 p.m. through Monday, June 27, at 6 a.m., weather permitting. 

On or after Friday, June 24, at 8 p.m. INDOT signs will be up to notify motorists the 146th St. bridge over U.S. 31 will be closed and the number of off ramps will be reduced. This project is for preventative maintenance bridge work. Weddle Brother LLC. will put a polymeric overlay on the bridge deck to protect the surface from water and road salt damage. This overlay will also extend the life of the bridge deck by 10-15 years. This project is under the same contract that involves the 161th St. bridge over U.S. 31 that will close after the completion of the roundabout at 161st St. and Union St. 

The official detour route for the East and West bound through traffic on 146th St. will be: 

WB 146th St. through traffic wanting to cross will head NB of U.S. 31 to 161th St. interchange then head back SB on U.S. 31 to 146th St. 

EB 146th St. through traffic wanting to cross will head SB of U.S. 31 to Clay Terrace Blvd. then head back NB to Lowes Way to 146th St. 

The $600,000 contract was awarded to Weddle Brother LLC. and has an overall completion date of August 31, 2022. INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, and remain vigilant of workers and equipment when traveling through active work zones. Each project is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
