INDOT to Begin Construction on U.S. 31 and 276th St.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation contractors Rieth-Riley and Crider & Crider to start work on U.S. 31 at 276th St. on or after Monday, June 6, to begin the process of shifting intersection from a two way stop to a free flow corridor on U.S. 31 with exit ramps on 276th St. U.S. 31 will be completely reconstructed and realigned to accommodate the new entrance and exit ramps. 

On or after Monday, June 6, INDOT signs will be up to notify motorists of construction in this area. Contractors to widen the shoulder on U.S. 31 NB and SB beginning on or after Wednesday, June 8. The bridges on U.S. 31 over Cicero Creek will be replaced. 276th St. between Dunbar Rd. and U.S. 31 will be closed starting June 13 until November 20, weather permitting. Access to Reynolds Farm Equipment will be provided off of U.S. 31. 276th East of U.S. 31 will be closed from April 1 until August 11, 2023, for the reconstruction of the road and two new ramps, weather permitting. There will be two lanes open to through traffic on U.S. 31 in both directions for the duration of this project. 

The $36,153,124.68 joint contract was awarded to Rieth-Riley and Crider & Crider and has an overall completion date of August 31, 2023. INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, and remain vigilant of workers and equipment when traveling through active work zones. Each project is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
