INDOT hosting hiring fairs in Gary and Plymouth tomorrow

NORTHWEST INDIANA - The Indiana Department of Transportation will be holding state-wide Winter Seasonal Worker Hiring Events on Thursday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time. In the Northwest District, hiring events will be held at the following locations:

Winter seasonal workers perform snow and ice removal and related maintenance duties and may be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Positions run through March at a starting pay of $16 per hour. INDOT offers $250 sign on and $500 retention bonuses for eligible candidates. 

Candidates should have a valid driver's license and commercial driver's license (CDL), current DOT Physical, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. Applicants should bring their CDL, Resume, and HS Diploma/GED with them to the hiring event and are encouraged to apply online through the links above prior to the event. Walk-ins are also welcome. Managers will be conducting interviews at the hiring events.

About the Indiana Hands-Free Law
In 2019, Indiana Criminal Justice Institute reported that distracted driving from mobile devices was a factor in at least 1,263 crashes and three fatal crashes. To make Hoosier roads safer, Governor Eric J. Holcomb signed the Indiana Hands-Free law to reduce distracted driving across the state. Beginning July 1, 2020, drivers are prohibited from holding a mobile device, except in emergencies, while their vehicles are moving.
