Grand Valley Boulevard to close at S.R. 37 early Saturday
MARTINSVILLE, Ind.— Access to the commercial and retail area on Grand Valley Boulevard, east of S.R. 37, will change early Saturday morning (Sept. 14) as crews continue construction of the Grand Valley Boulevard overpass.
Cramertown Loop construction is scheduled to be complete by around 6 a.m. Saturday. When the road is opened to traffic, access to and from Grand Valley Boulevard at S.R. 37 will be permanently eliminated.
A new traffic signal will become active at Cramertown Loop and S.R. 252 on Friday (Sept. 13), prior to the the closure on Cramertown being lifted. This will ensure safety and better traffic flow at the intersection.
Those wishing to access the Walmart Supercenter and other businesses from the north will do so by using S.R. 252 to Cramertown Loop to Grand Valley Boulevard. To access from the south, motorists will use Mahalasville Road to Artesian Avenue to Grand Valley Boulevard.
While this access point will be permanently eliminated, a third route into the commercial area will be available from South Street when the Grand Valley overpass is completed. The new overpass is expected to be open to traffic by spring of 2020.
When Grand Valley Boulevard is closed, the traffic signal at the S.R. 37 intersection will no longer be necessary and will be removed. This will allow improved traffic flow along S.R. 37 between Ohio Street and S.R. 252, which will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction.
The speed limit in the construction zone between S.R. 252 and Ohio Street remains 45 mph. Motorists are urged to slow down, use caution and drive without distractions though the work zone.
