Indiana STEM Educator Expansion Program (I-STEM) Registration Now Available
IDOE is pleased to announce a new partnership with Educational Service Centers of Indiana (ESC of I) to strengthen Indiana’s STEM educator pipeline. The I-STEM partnership provides support for both currently licensed non-STEM teachers, and prospective teachers who are not licensed and hold a bachelor’s degree, to become licensed to teach in a STEM content area. IDOE has identified eligible STEM content areas as life science, chemistry, earth/space science, physics, physical science, computer science, technology education, and mathematics. 2023 Indiana Academic Standards Resources: Vertical Articulation Guides
Vertical articulation guides for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics are now available in the Indiana Learning Lab. These resources provide an overview of the progression of the updated K-12 Indiana Academic Standards. Correlation guides for ELA, Mathematics, and Computer Science to help educators cross reference the 2020 and 2023 standards will be available soon. The Future-Focused Learning Series from IDOE and ESC of I will host five live professional development workshops in regions across the state to support implementation of the 2023 Indiana Academic Standards, Early Learning Standards, and Indiana Academic Standards for Integrated STEM. 2023 K-12 Indiana Academic Standards Frameworks
Frameworks for the streamlined 2023 Indiana Academic Standards in ELA, Mathematics, Science, STEM, and Computer Science are now available in the Indiana Learning Lab. Frameworks for Social Studies will be added in coming weeks. These frameworks are provided to help teachers unpack the standards and guide the planning and implementation of student learning opportunities. Frameworks for the 2020 Indiana Academic Standards will continue to be available in the Indiana Learning Lab until assessment for these standards concludes. College Board Training Opportunities & PSAT/NMSQT Results
Educators and students can now access PSAT/NMSQT results if they tested by Saturday, October 14, and remaining scores will be available to educators by Tuesday, November 14, and students on Thursday, November 16.
High school educators, counselors, and staff supporting College Board assessments can register for workshops throughout the 2023-2024 school year, including PSAT data workshops in November. Contact College Board with any questions.
ILEARN Through-Year Resources & Instructional Planning
As Indiana plans to transition to a through-year ILEARN assessment model for mathematics and English/language arts beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, educators and school leaders can begin preparation using test blueprints and upcoming resources on the ILEARN Moodle course. ILEARN, IREAD-3, and I AM Test Preparation Resources
Practice tests for ILEARN and IREAD-3 assessments to prepare for 2024 testing will be available through the Test Delivery System (TDS) beginning Monday, November 6. Register for Transitions 101: Let’s Get Started
Join IDOE, the Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL), and the Indiana Head Start Association on Wednesday, December 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET for a session to explore the basics of smooth transitions for children and families whether transitioning into services or kindergarten. This session will feature how Early Learning Standards prepare students for kindergarten, review a toolkit of transition tools, and learn how family engagement can assist in the overall process for children. Nextech Opportunities: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy Series & Computer Science Conference
Nextech is offering two November sessions to support discussion of how digital literacy and computer science meet in AI literacy in the classroom. Register for the following sessions:
Students in grades eight through 12 can also register for Nextech Navigate, a virtual computer science conference designed to inspire and inform students to pursue a post-secondary path in computer science and technology. Register Now for CodeHS Fall Computer Science Workshops
CodeHS is offering computer science programming bootcamps (Java, Python, JavaScript, Cybersecurity), Praxis Computer Science Exam preparation, and online PD mini-courses. Indiana K-12 teachers are eligible to participate in these opportunities to expand content knowledge, learn pedagogy, and interact with other computer science educators. Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) Hosts See Yourself IN Summit for High School Students and Educators
Join the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) and its five talent and industry sector initiatives for the See Yourself IN Summit on Thursday, November 16, or Friday, November 17. Attendees will learn about the state’s thriving agbiosciences, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and logistics, and tech sectors, as well as the career opportunities open to students in these advanced industries. New from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana (ACEC): Civil Engineering Presentations for National Engineers Week
Each year, ACEC Indiana coordinates an effort to organize volunteers in the civil engineering profession to speak at elementary, middle, and high schools across Indiana during National Engineers Week (February 18-24, 2024). National Engineers Week is dedicated to promoting engineering as a potential career in young students by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. Teachers may request up to five presentations/sessions to host an engineer in the classroom and ACEC will accommodate at least one from every teacher (potentially more, based on volunteer availability).
