The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K–12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. Awardees serve as leaders in the improvement of STEM education. This year's cycle is for teachers in Grades 7-12. Nomination applications are available here. Nominations are due March 1, 2021. November 15 is the Deadline to Submit Holiday Cards for Our Military

Thank you to the schools and districts that have joined IDOE in supporting the Cards for Our Military Challenge. This initiative sends holiday greetings to active duty military stationed around the world. Learn more about the project here. The deadline to send cards is November 15. Reminder: Public Comment on Indiana’s Request for Flexibility from Federal Accountability Requirements for 2020-2021

IDOE is seeking public comment on its request to the US Department of Education to waive certain federal requirements pertaining to federal accountability for the 2020-2021 school year. This request is in response to the direct impact of COVID-19 on the ability to produce valid, reliable, and comparable accountability data and results for the 2020-2021 school year. New! ISTEP+ Winter 2020 Retest: Window Opens Monday, November 9

The ISTEP+ Winter 2020 Retest windows open next Monday, November 9. This test is primarily for Seniors (cohort 2021) and adult education students (previous cohorts) who need ISTEP+ scores to fulfill graduation requirements. Please contact Andrew Jones with questions or concerns.

New! ISTEP+ Winter 2020 Retest Monitoring

The Office of Student Assessment (OSA) will conduct monitoring visits during the ISTEP+ Winter 2020 Retest testing window beginning November 9. Please ensure that school administrators and staff are aware that these onsite visits will be conducted. Click here for additional details.

New! Weekly OSE Webinar (WOW): Challenges to Proposed Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Please plan to participate in "WOW #9: Challenges to Proposed Individualized Education Programs," on Thursday, November 12 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (EST). Presented by the Dispute Resolution Team, participants will have opportunities to review how parents can challenge proposed IEPs and discuss several hypotheticals to assess whether an IEP has been challenged. New! Results Driven Accountability (RDA) Planning Tool and Matrix Coming

The RDA Planning Tool and Matrix will be emailed to local and coop directors the week of November 9. The tool contains information and scores related to compliance and results indicators and next steps if applicable. Reminder: Secondary ELA Literature Roundtables

Join IDOE’s Kelly Waller in sharing ideas on how teachers implement commonly taught novels into their classrooms. Participants will join the Literature Round Table to share their experiences with teaching these novels and will be asked to explain strategies they have found to be successful with students. Reminder: Summer School Reimbursement

The Office of School Finance has finalized the computation for reimbursement of summer school costs. The summer school payment will be made the week of November 23. Reminder: Curricular Material Reimbursement

The sign-off phase for the 2020-2021 school year curricular material reimbursement closes November 13.  If you have any questions, please contact Skii Ficklin.

Reminder: Supplemental Financial Reporting Update

As previously shared, this memo provides an overview of the new platform for school corporations and charter schools to upload financial data as well as a new Form 9 step in compliance with state transparency requirements outlined in IC 5-14-3.7-3 which begins in January 2021. Please direct any questions to here.
