As the December 31 deadline for publishing the ESSA School Building Level Report approaches, please be aware of the channels through which this data will be released and how you can begin preparing now for the questions you will likely receive about differences in student-level spending in your schools. Vaping Resources

The vaping epidemic continues to impact children across Indiana. The Indiana Department of Education and Indiana State Department of Health would like to share resources to help schools address this epidemic. More information can be found here.

Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA Invalidations and Discrepancy Resolution Window Continues

Corporations and schools are able to report any test invalidations in the Test Information and Distribution Engine (TIDE), as needed. Please note that once invalidations are submitted, they may not be reversed. CTCs should resolve any discrepant records from paper test attempts in TIDE, as necessary, to ensure no mismatched records. Any invalidations must be reported and discrepant records resolved no later than Friday, January 17, 2020.

Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA Rescore Request Window Opens Wednesday

The Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA test window will close Thursday, December 19. The rescore request window opens Wednesday, December 18 and continues through January 17, 2020. Corporations and schools should review the 2019-2020 ILEARN Rescore Request Process Overview for details. This overview includes legislated requirements, a link to a training module, and an editable parent letter template they may use when communicating with parents about this year’s rescore request process. The I AM Print and Large Print Accommodated Materials Deadline is December 20

All print and large print accommodations should be noted in Indiana IEP (IIEP) no later than December 20 in order to receive these materials before the operational window opens on April 6, 2020. AIR will only be shipping one set of accommodated materials per school, per grade level to reduce costs associated with the printing and shipping of unwanted materials. It is very important for schools to confirm all print accommodations in IIEP before December 20. Any print accommodations that are not needed should be removed. Test coordinators will be able to order additional materials during the Additional Order (AO) Window if a print accommodation is noted in IIEP after December 20. Additional orders must be approved by IDOE.

ISPROUT Educator Recruitment for Reports

IDOE requests educators with ISPROUT experience participate in the report blueprint meetings. Educators will provide input and review possible reports for ISPROUT. All participants will receive a stipend or substitute and professional growth points for license renewal. Interested educators should complete the survey found here. Administrator approval is required to participate. `

Public Comment on Draft of Indiana Educator Standards Ends Today at 5

As part of IDOE's ongoing efforts to ensure educator standards are aligned to the most current state and national standards, educators and the general public may review the draft Rules for Educator Preparation and Accountability (REPA) 3 educator standards in Elementary Mathematics Specialist.

Please Share Military Selective Service Act Registration Requirements

The U.S. Selective Service System and U.S. Department of Education request assistance in reminding Indiana students of the registration requirements under the Military Selective Service Act. Further, schools may find this to be an ideal time to remind students who are eligible, to register to vote in the next election. Fifth-Annual Indiana STEM Education Conference - Discounted Registration Deadline, December 20

The fifth-annual Indiana STEM Education Conference will take place at Purdue University on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The theme for the conference is, “Meeting the Objectives of Indiana’s STEM Education Strategic Plan.” Registration is $95 if completed by Friday, December 20, and $110 after December 20. Governor’s Work Ethic Certification

Researchers from the University of Notre Dame and the Opportunity & Inclusive Growth Institute (Minneapolis Federal Reserve) are seeking to learn more about Indiana’s unique high school-to-career offerings. If you lead a high school, school corporation, or CTE center, please respond to this short survey regardless of whether your administrative unit offers the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate program or other similar program on employability skills. You may also forward the link to the appropriate contact. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes.

Disciplinary Literacy Book Study

IDOE’s literacy team is hosting a book study over The Writing Revolution. The purpose of the book study is to provide educators with strategies that, when explicitly taught, improve students’ writing abilities across all subjects and grades. Analytical Algebra II PD

Register for the Analytical Algebra II spring learning and collaboration meeting in Indianapolis, Jasper, or Warsaw by clicking on the location. Kindergarten Transition Grant Opportunity

The Strong Start Community grant will fund Hoosier communities to plan and implement practices to support kindergarten transitions. Apply for up to $25,000, funded by Indiana’s Preschool Development Grant, by December 20 at 5 p.m. to be considered.

Early Learning Foundations Guidance Released

IDOE is pleased to release the final two content areas for the Early Learning Guidance: Creative Arts and Physical Health and Growth. The documents can be found on the Early Learning website and will soon be available in the Foundations Guidance Online Tool. IDOE is grateful to the experts and educators who participated in the process of developing these resources. Additional information on the second phase of developing this tool and additional resources will be released soon.

Form 9 Financial Data Submission- January 2020

As part of the July to December 2019 Form 9 financial data submission process in January, IDOE will implement additional steps in the Form 9 upload process to comply with federal reporting and documentation requirements and state transparency requirements. Three additional steps added to the Form 9 financial data submission process are expected to provide sufficient documentation of the appropriate use of object codes for federal reporting purposes and the calculation of indirect cost rates. Additional information is available in this memo.

December 2019 Tuition Support Payment

On December 16, the Office of School Finance will release an updated Form 54 Basic Grant Monthly Distribution report in State Aid (Finance Application). The Form 54 reflects the December 2019 through June 2020 State Tuition Support payments using actual counts for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the Honors Grant. Updated State Tuition Support worksheets are now available in the STN Finance Application Center. The memo can be found in Moodle Finance. The attached document from the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet helps explain some frequently asked questions regarding CTE Course funding levels for the 2020-2021 school year. CTE course funding levels will be up for final approval at the State Board of Education meeting on December 27.
