Superintendent Summit Set for June 13-14

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is hosting a summit for all Indiana school superintendents (or his/her designee) and one additional member of his/her leadership team. This event will start with a late afternoon/evening event supported by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) on June 13, followed by a full-day summit on June 14 at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. Summit attendees will receive a legislative update from Dr. McCormick and information critical to planning for the 2019-2020 school year from IDOE officials. Cost of the Summit is $75 per person; however, hotel rooms at the JW Marriott will be provided at no charge for the first 100 individuals to register outside of a 50-mile radius of Indianapolis. ISTEP+, ILEARN, and I AM Windows Are Underway

Here are a few reminders to share with educators:

  • If educators experience testing issues, please document them by immediately contacting either either the AIR (866-298-4256) or Pearson (866-683-6668) Help Desks.

  • Callers should note the item number, grade level, and content area before reaching out to the Help Desk. As a reminder, secure test content should not be transmitted. Once a Help Desk ticket is created, callers should note the help desk’s ticket number for future reference.

  • Policy questions such as assessments given outside of order or mis-administration should be either emailed to IDOE or phoned in to 317-232-9050.

Webinar Series Opportunity-Analytical Algebra II: Adapting and Gathering Resources 

In this follow-up webinar, IDOE will focus on resources and how schools can utilize and adapt their current Algebra II text with Analytical Algebra II. Presenters will also explore utilizing the Math Framework and begin to share digital resources. This webinar will be held Thursday, May 16, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. (ET). Register here.

Regional Summer Learning and Collaboration Opportunity

Join IDOE for a deep dive into Analytical Algebra II. During the course of two days, educators will receive resources and pedagogical strategies that can be used to implement the course. Educators will also be given meaningful work time to collaborate with colleagues from around the state. Click on the location to register. Teacher, Counselor, Administrator Summer Externship Opportunity: CTE Summer Expansion Grant Released

The Office of Innovation has released $1.75 million in Perkins Leadership funds to be equally disbursed to the 50 secondary CTE districts. Funds can be used for the purposes of increasing statewide participation in a paid summer externship opportunity for any teacher, counselor, or school administrator. Funds can also be used to plan or implement professional development on integrating project based learning principals and increasing CTE awareness. USDOE Releases Over $2M for Perkins Innovation and Modernization Grant Program

More than $2 million are available for this grant, and up to six grants will be awarded to scale evidence-based innovative programs that lead to better student outcomes and program effectiveness. Grantees will receive between $400,000 and $500,000 for a 36-month project. Each grantee must match awarded funds with non-Federal funding sources. Vincennes University Hosting Welding Workshop Led by Lincoln Electric Trainers

Vincennes University will host two three-day welding workshops for educators in June of 2019. Both workshops will be taught by Lincoln Electric trainers from corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, and assisted by the welding faculty of Vincennes University.
