Weekly School Nutrition Newsletter

07/20/2018

Dear Food Service Contact,

This email provides news for schools concerning the Child Nutrition Programs from USDA and the state. If you are the food service contact for your school or corporation, it is your responsibility to relay important information provided to you about the Child Nutrition Programs to other staff members.

Reminder! CNPweb 2019

  • Program Year (PY) 2019 is now accessible in CNPweb.
  • In order to begin claiming reimbursement for PY 2019, Sponsor and Site Applications must be completed and approved.
  • Sponsors will have to submit offline forms to our office. To identify the documents that must be completed and submitted, check out the Packet tab in the CNPweb after the Sponsor and Site Applications have been completed. Anything with an asterisk (*) will indicate the forms that need to be submitted.
  • Please Note! Schools may receive an error for entering a breakfast paid adult price, when they do not even operate the breakfast program. We are working on fixing this issue, as well.
  • Don't see a button to submit applications to Pending Approval? Make sure your Sponsor and Site pages are submitted, and if any offline form has an asterisk, you will need to enter a date that the document(s) was sent to our office.
  • Questions? Contact your field specialist or the School Nutrition Division at 317-232-0850

After School Snack Program - New Requirement for PY 2019

  • All sponsors operating the After School Snack Program in PY 2019 are required to take the After School Snack Program online course in inTEAM’s Blackboard.
  • This course outlines the requirements and procedures to ensure program compliance.
  • Whether the school is operating the After School Snack Program for the first year, or if they have been operating the program for many years, the course is required to be completed before PY 2019 can be approved in CNPweb.
  • To access inTEAM’s online courses, click here.
  • Please note:
    • One username and password has been assigned per sponsor.
    • Click here for the User Guide.
  • After completing the quiz, the certificate of completion must be emailed to Ashley Heller at aheller@doe.in.gov.
    • Please Note! The course certificate will appear in the Dashboard tab, within the Completed Courses section. It does take the system 1 hour to generate the course certificate after you pass the post test. Click on the completed course to access the certificate.

2019 Direct Certification

  • Direct Certification (DC) is up-to-date and accessible.
  • As long as a DC Match or DC Look Up were made on Friday, July 6 or later, any identified student is eligible for free or reduced DC benefits from the 2018-2019 school year, even if the date of eligibility is listed as June.
  • Need access to DC? Contact your school's STN Application Center Administrator. This person will set you up in the system to access Direct Certification and Direct Verification. Not sure who your school's Administrator is? Contact John Todd at 317-232-0872.

Civil Rights

  • Civil Rights training is required to be completed annually through the inTEAM website.
    • One person is required to view the Civil Rights training and take the quiz each year.
    • That person then must train any other staff that work with the School Nutrition Program.
      • Remember to record the date the training took place, the names of staff that attended, and all of the topics covered.
    • A printable PowerPoint, script, and post-test of the Civil Rights Training is now available to use to train other staff.
  • If you are having issues accessing the course, view inTeam's User Guide.
  • If you need new "And Justice for All" posters for your site or have any Civil Rights questions, please email Maggie Schabel at mschabel@doe.in.gov.
