Update! SY 2018-2019 Paid Lunch Equity (PLE) Requirements

  • There have been recent changes to the PLE requirement for School Year (SY) 2018-2019 allowing many schools exemption from the PLE requirement.
  • Per USDA memo SP 12-2018 Paid Lunch Equity: Guidance for School Year 2018-2019 any SFA with a positive or zero balance in its nonprofit school food service account as of January 31, 2018, is exempt from PLE requirements for school year SY 2018-2019.
  • The school must complete a PLE Exemption form and submit it with supporting documentation.
  • Instructions for submission are included on the PLE Exemption form.
  • Please note, this exemption only applies to SY 2018-2019.
  • The revised PLE Tool for SY 2018-2019 is not yet available for schools not qualifying or not interested in applying for the PLE exemption.
  • We will continue to send PLE information when USDA releases it.
