2019 Pre-Order Survey

Hello Recipient Agencies,

The 2019 Pre-order survey opens on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 9:00 AM. At that time, RAs can begin entering the USDA Foods choices (formerly known as commodities) for school year 2018/2019.  Deliveries to the contracted warehouses for these food choices will begin in fall 2018.  RAs usually can begin placing food choices on order forms to be delivered to their school/sites in late September or early October. Please remember that the Pre-order survey must be completed in order to receive USDA Foods for the 2018/2019 school year.  Your school must have submitted at least year of reimbursement claims through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) in order to complete the survey.

The survey is scheduled to close in two parts on two different dates. Once the survey is closed, it cannot be reopened.

  • Friday, March 9, 2018 for Fruits, Vegetables and Dairy Products
  • Friday, March 24, 2018 for Poultry and Livestock

NOTE: **If you diverted raw/bulk USDA Foods to a processor to be processed into a ready-to-eat product in past years, you should be monitoring your pounds and balances through the commodity tracking websites, K12Foodservice.com and/or the ProcessorLink If you have yet to establish access to either of these two commodity tracking sites, it is strongly suggested that you click on the above links before starting your 2019 Pre-Order Survey.  If you are a new Food Service Professional, it is a good idea and practice to check these websites to be sure that there is not unused product at the processor that was ordered by someone at your institution previously.

Below you will find several important documents and resources that will assist you in preparing for the upcoming Pre-Order Survey.  These items are also available on our website at https://www.doe.in.gov/nutrition/pre-order-survey-information  Please take time to review them.
