Updates from this week's SBOE Meeting

Assessment
The IDOE posted Spring IREAD-3 results today. Please note the results are reflective of Spring data only and do not account for students taking ISTAR or who have medical necessity exemptions in the denominator. Therefore, the pass percentage rates may be lower than the final calculation this summer. The embargo of IREAD-3 data is removed at this time. 

School Connectivity
The recently passed budget bill (HB1001) provided additional funding for the School and Library Internet Connection line item. Please view this memo for more information on next steps. 

Staff Performance Plans
Additional detail as to how legislation impacts Staff Performance Plan submissions is forthcoming, but please note the submission deadline has been moved from July 1 to September 15

Finance 
The Indiana K-12 State Tuition Support Annual Report is available now. To view this document, please click here

The Office of School Finance will be hosting a budget workshop in Indianapolis on June 28. To learn more, click here.

The Summer School Program reimbursement process is underway. Click here to view the school corporations and charter schools that are eligible for reimbursement along with the estimated reimbursement amount. 

Title Grants and Support
The Office of Title Grants and Support in collaboration with the Office of Student Services is releasing guidance that addresses Title I, A services for homeless children and the Title I, A provisions related to youth in foster care. This important guidance includes how it impacts the 2017-2018 Title I BASIC Grant Application.  Please review both memos that are effective beginning in the 2017-2018 school year and comply with ESSA regulations.

State CTE Course Funding 2017-2017
The State CTE Course Funding memo and chart are now 
available. There are no changes in funding levels or courses for the 2017-2018 school year. 

Update on Approved Certifications
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and Indiana Department of Workforce Development (IDWD) have updated the list of Approved Industry Certifications used for School Accountability, the Technical Honors Diploma, and Technical Skills Attainment for the Carl D. Perkins grant. The updated list is effective for the 2021 cohort and can be found online here. More information can be found in this memo

Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) Program
LEAs that are eligible to apply for SRSA (an eligibility list can be found here) should participate in SRSA FY 2017 Application Walk-Through Web Seminars in order to be ready to submit by the June 30, 2017 deadline through this website. Please note, SRSA funding comes directly from the U.S. Department of Education to LEAs and is a different program than the Rural, Low-Income School (RLIS) grant, which the IDOE administers will release information once allocations become available. Updated guidance for 2018 data collection reporting for DOE-AT (attendance) and DOE-ES (discipline reporting) days is available here

Indiana Teacher of the Year 
The 2018 Indiana Teacher of the Year (INTOY) application is now available. Applications are due July 1, 2017. New for 2018: the IDOE is excited to announce that districts are invited to submit both an elementary and secondary candidate!
