Assessment The 2017-18 test windows were approved by the State Board this week and are available here.
The Office requests additional information from formative assessment providers in anticipation of the 2017-18 school year. All assessment programs/vendors will be required to complete a revised approval process which can be viewed on the Indiana Formative Assessment webpage. Additionally, new professional development opportunities for the expansion of formative assessment strategies will be made available this summer and fall! Corporation Test Coordinators will receive further information as updates become available. Please note that all policies and guidance related to the formative assessment grant will be finalized pending outcomes of the current legislative session.
2017-2018 Title I Schoolwide Plan Approval The Department has implemented a process for Title I schools transitioning from their current Targeted Assistance (TAS) model to a schoolwide program for the 2017-2018 school year. Please see the attached memo for information on the approval process.

STEM Team Nominations Open The Governor's STEM Team nominations are still open. The team will honor the top high school students in STEM classes as well as extracurricular activities, work/research projects, leadership roles and community service. Nominations are due this Sunday, April 9.

Office of Special Education The Indiana Department of Education is responsible for ensuring local education agency (LEA) compliance with state and federal special education statutes and rules. Based on data submitted through the IDOE SE Report, some corporations are identified as not meeting state Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) targets. As a result, Technical Assistance (TA) may be required. In the upcoming weeks, those schools identified will receive a letter to notify them if they do not meet the requirements.
Computer Science Licensure The recent focus on STEM education has created a surge for teaching interest in licensure for computer science and engineering and technology. Please see the attached memo for information about becoming appropriately licensed.
