Friday, March 31, 2017

Dear Educators:

For the ISTEP+ Part 2 test window, the Department has taken your feedback into consideration and extended the testing time for Grade 10. We want to ensure students are granted a fair amount of time in order to complete the test in full.

I want to thank you for your continued feedback and suggestions as we work together to ensure student success.

Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer McCormick
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
Indiana Department of Education

Dr. Jennifer McCormick

Summer School
Friday, March 31, is the deadline to submit the estimated instructional costs report and list of courses for the summer school program. Public school corporations and charter schools are eligible to submit for summer school reimbursement. However, if the estimated instructional costs report and list of courses as well as the final costs report are not submitted by the posted deadlines, a payment will not be made. Please find the direct link to the Summer School Estimates report here. Users should use their DOE online username and password to login, which require either corporation administrator or school administrator credentials. Additional information is available here and in the Finance Community on Learning Connection. Attached is the 2017 Summer School packet and a document to help with completing the estimated report and list of courses. If you have any questions, please contact Kathryn Roth or Melissa Ambre

Finance
The Office of School Finance has updated and recalculated the FY2017 basic and complexity grant funding for school corporations and charter schools. The FY2017 State Tuition Support Worksheet can be viewed and printed from the School Finance Center Application. Reviewing the Worksheet will afford you the opportunity to review the individual data variables in the calculation of the grants. The site may be accessed here. This is a secure site and will require a login and password. The login is the 4-digit corporation number and the password is the corporation PIN. Form 54 information will not be available until April 13, 2017. If you have questions, please contact Melissa Ambre or Amy Pattison.

Friday, March 31, is the last day to submit formula variables for Legislative Services Agency to forecast FY2018 and FY2019 state tuition support funding for public schools and charter schools. It is also the only time the Department will collect an estimated Average Daily Membership (ADM) count for the FY2018 funding estimates. Estimates are submitted through the STN Finance Center (State Aid) using this link. Click on the Corporation Information > Estimate Formula Components. If you do not want to change the Legislative Services Agency (LSA) estimates, no further action is necessary. The estimates will default to the LSA figures. For questions concering the submission process, please contact Amy Pattison and Melissa Ambre
