Investigator Retires
Michigan City – The Indiana State Prison and Warden Ron Neal congratulate Charles Whelan on his retirement from the Indiana Department of Correction. The facility presented Mr. Whelan with a commemorative lock that had once been used at the facility.
Mr. Whelan began his career in 1989. During his tenure, he has been employed at Branchville Correctional Facility, Indiana State Prison, Maximum Control Unit, and Westville Correctional Facility. Chuck has held positions with the Indiana Department of Correction including Correctional Officer, Correctional Counselor, Correctional Case Manager, Internal Affairs Investigator, Lead Investigator and Regional Investigator. In 2010, Chuck graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy as a Correctional Police Officer.
Chuck is a friend and a Mentor to many Staff within the IDOC. He will certainly be missed. I wish him a very happy, peaceful, and fun filled life after retirement!
