Sullivan County Resident Climbs the Ranks at WVCF
Carlisle, Ind.- Michelle Woolsey has been an employee of the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) since November 1993. During her tenure she has seen the inner workings of the facility from both the unit team side and the custody side. Michelle began as a Correctional Officer, but in two short years promoted to Correctional Sergeant. As a sergeant she worked a variety of posts throughout the facility gaining valuable experience that would aid her as she continued her career.
In December 2018 Michelle decided she wanted to learn the unit team aspect of corrections, so she applied for Correctional Caseworker. As a caseworker she worked primarily in F Housing Unit (FHU). After almost three years as a caseworker Michelle felt she had mastered the skills necessary to take on the additional responsibilities of a Casework Manager. In her new capacity Michelle will supervise the caseworker in her assigned unit.
Unit Team Manager Kevin Hunter said, "Michelle's 10 years of supervisory experience will prove to be an asset as she takes on her new role as Casework Manager. She also knows the challenges associated with unit team, and how to ensure the requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner. Her knowledge will prove to be beneficial not only to her, but to her colleagues as well."
