WVCF Offenders Prepare Pool to Open
Carlisle, Ind.- An offender labor line from Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) was recently asked to help prepare for the opening of the Linton pool. The crew consisted of five offenders who were supervised by Correctional Officer Lisa Ball. Linton Pool Board Member and Clerk-Treasurer Jathan Wright said the following when asked about the labor line. "City Administrators are thankful for the great help we received each year from the labor lines at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. Lisa Ball and her crew do a fantastic job getting the pool ready, doing a lot of cleaning and heavy lifting that without them would make opening the pool each year difficult. The crews take pride in their work getting the pool ready, weed eating the cemetery, painting curbs, and putting up the Christmas lights in the park. It is all greatly appreciated."
The pool opened on June 4th and will remain open until August 8th. Open swim hours are from noon to 6:00 PM with a daily admission price of $4.00 for individuals seven years of age and up, and a $1.00 for children six years of age and under. Season passes, student passes, and punch cards are also available, as well as water aerobics classes. Lieutenant Laurie Petty said, "The Labor line escort officers prepare their schedules a year in advance. The officer’s dedication is sincere. Both the escort officer and their crew thoroughly enjoy completing projects throughout the surrounding communities. It is a true sense of accomplishment for the crews."
