Putnamville Correctional Helps
Local Athletic and Food Programs
Greencastle, Ind. - Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) donated $10,500 to Putnam County area charities and surrounding county athletic programs..
Donation checks were presented to help meet the demand for assistance from members of their communities to First Baptist Church and Clay County Youth Food Program, Clay County Humane Society, Clay County Emergency Food Pantry, which are all located in Brazil, Indiana, Cunot Community Center located in Poland, Indiana, Putnam County Emergency Food Program in Greencastle, Indiana, and, Owen County Humane Society located in Spencer, Indiana.
Donation were also made to the high school athletic departments of Greencastle, Cloverdale, Northview, and North Putnam. The schools plan to use their donation to help offset funding losses when sporting events were either postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic. The resulting loss of revenue from ticket and concession sales put an unexpected strain on sports budgets.
“With the worry of the pandemic and following necessary safety guidelines, local charities and many high school athletic departments have taken a real hit to their budgets" said Warden Zatecky. "We hope these donations from PCF Community Fund help weather the challenge the pandemic has presented as we all look forward to better days."
