IDOC Correctional Police Officers Participate in Shop with a Cop
Carlisle, Ind. - Recently Correctional Police Officers (CPO) Frank Vanihel, Kevin Allen, Randy Vanvleet and Travis Davis, with the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC), participated in Knox County's Shop with a Cop. Police and volunteers met at Culbertson Boulevard for a briefing before the parade began. As they drove down Hart Street their lights and sirens were met with cheers.
When they arrived at Wal-Mart, the gifts were packaged up and ready for delivery. Each package contained a card with a child's home address. Children across Knox County were blessed by the love and generosity of complete strangers, strangers that became a part of the true spirit of Christmas. CPO Vanihel said, "It touched my heart to see the outpouring of love from the community, and to see the look in the children's eyes as the gifts were dropped off. I feel blessed to have been a part of such an awesome experience." CPO Vanvleet said, "It was an honor to assist with shop with a cop. It was awesome seeing the smiles on the kids' faces when we delivered the presents."
