Patriotic Award Presented to Maj. Doug Wardlow
Michigan City, Ind. –The Office of the Secretary of Defense of the United States recognized Major Douglas Wardlow of the Indiana Department of Correction as a Patriotic Employee.
Major Wardlow was nominated for the award by a fellow department of correction employee, Officer Jessica Therault. The award certificate commended Major Wardlow's efforts contributing to the national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Forces.
In the nomination submitted by Officer Therault she noted Major Wardlow's understanding of the importance of the on-going military training for staff who are part of Indiana's National Guard and Reserve Forces. Ofc. Therault also commented about Maj. Wardlow scheduling training events at the state prison to avoid conflicts with required military training schedules.
Major Douglas Wardlow began his career with the Indiana Department of Correction in September of 2005 as a correctional officer after his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps. He recently graduated from the Indiana Department of Correction Experienced and Emerging Leaders Program in October of 2019.
Warden Ron Neal stated, “It is an honor to see Major Wardlow receive this recognition from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Doug continues to be a positive role model for all staff at the Indiana State Prison. His character and integrity are above reproach, and the Indiana State Prison is fortunate to have him on board.”
