Wabash Valley Correctional Facility Staff Show

Support for Local Non-Profit Organization

Linton, Ind.- Open Arms Christian Ministries recently hosted their 19th Annual Golf Scramble at Phil Harris Golf Course in Linton, Indiana.  This year the event was renamed, "The David Keister Memorial Fore Kids Golf Scramble," in honor of one of their long-term supporters who passed away in April.

The proceeds from this years tournament will go towards the new HEBron Home for Boys in Lyons, Indiana.  The former Lyons Health and Living Center was donated to Open Arms.  Open Arms remodeled the building to make it a suitable living environment for boys ages 10 to 14.  Countless volunteer hours and fundraisers made the conversion of the living center into a home for boys possible.

The Facility donated $1000 towards the golf scramble, which more than covered the two registration fees for the two WVCF teams.  Litigation Liaison Mike Ellis was one of the participants.  When asked why he joined a team he said, "As an IDOC employee I see what can happen to someone who grows up in a less than stellar environment.  That is why I chose to show my support for Open Arms and what they do for kids.  The safe and secure environment they provide helps them have a fighting chance at being a successful, productive citizen."
