Veteran Members of Indiana State Prison is Promoted
Michigan City, Ind.- Warden Ron Neal announces the appointment of Bessie Leonard and Joshua Lyerla to the position of Correctional Caseworker at the Indiana State Prison.
Bessie Leonard started with the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) May 5, 1998 as a Correctional Officer. She has held numerous positions during her career with the IDOC. She has been the chairman with the Disciplinary Hearing Board, Law Library Supervisor and is currently a member of the Regional Honor Guard Team.
Joshua Lyeral began his career with the IDOC October 5, 2015 as a Correctional Officer at the Correctional Industrial Facility and was promoted to Correctional Sergeant before his transfer. Joshua served in the United States Army National Guard. While at the Correctional Industrial Facility, he was a member of the IDOC Hazmat team and a Field Training Manager. Joshua transferred to the Indiana State Prison August 23, 2020.
Warden Neal stated, “Both individuals have demonstrated they will be a great addition to the Re-Entry Division at the Indiana State Prison. Their Custody experience will be a great asset in their new position. I look forward to working with each of them”.
