Correctional Professional Assistance Fund Of Indiana Awards Scholarship

Bunker Hill, Ind. – Christopher Dicken of Peru Indiana was awarded a scholarship from the Correctional Professional Assistance Fund of Indiana (CPFI) Scholarship Program. Christopher is the son of Jeff and Stephanie Dicken; Jeff is an Accountant 2 in the Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) Business Office. The scholarship was presented to Christopher by MCF Warden Bill Hyatte, with Jeff Dicken present as well.

Christopher plans to study at Indiana University (IU), majoring in Political Science and wants to participate in the Pre-Law track at IU in hopes of one day attending law school. With a GPA of 12.403 on a scale of 12, Christopher graduated third in his class at Peru High School (PHS) and has been in the top 10 of his class since 7th grade. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was President of the PHS Chapter. He was also an accomplished athlete at PHS, serving as the Varsity Baseball and Tennis Team Co-Captain.

In Christopher’s essay he wrote as part of the scholarship application process he said, “What I hope to accomplish in my field of study, is to advance the quality of public service, and hopefully help better the lives of my clients.”

Jeff Dicken said, “Christopher has done outstanding things with his life already and will do even better things in the future. He has worked hard to get to this point and his mother and I are proud of his accomplishments.”

Warden Hyatte commented, "It is an outstanding opportunity to help a young adult provide financial means to pursue their education goals, and I am glad to see Christopher receive this scholarship. He is a bright young man with ambitious goals, which I have no doubt he will accomplish. I look forward to seeing where he goes from here.”
