Dedicated Putnamville Correctional Employee Retires
With Over 25 Years of Service
Greencastle, Ind.—Putnamville Correctional Facility celebrates the retirement of Karumathil Kumaran, who served the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) for over 25 years.
Kumaran began his career as a Correctional Officer with the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) at Plainfield Correctional Facility in August of 1988. Kumaran promoted to Sergeant in March of 1999. Kumaran remained as custody staff while transitioning in 2002 to Putnamville, where he promoted in May of 2006 to Case Manager, where he served until his retirement in June of 2020.
With each new venture brought new challenges that Kumaran surpassed exceptionally. “Kumaran is a hardworking, and honest staff member, whose wealth of knowledge is often sought after by fellow staff,” stated Deputy Warden Timmy Phegley. Phegley concluded, "Kumaran had a very positive impact that created great camaraderie among staff. Thank you Kumaran for your dedicated years of service, and we wish you luck on your next endeavor.”
