Contract Staff Arrested for Allegation of Drug Trafficking

 

Plainfield, Ind.. - An investigation conducted by the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) Office of Investigation and Intelligence (OII) resulted in the arrest of contract employee Candice McGraw, 42, of Indianapolis.  The investigation began Friday, June 26, based on information McGraw, who was a contract employee with the Aramark Corporation, was allegedly trafficking suspected illegal drugs into the Plainfield Correctional Facility. 

When McGraw entered the facility to report for work on Friday, she was met by OII investigators who spoke with her and developed information which resulted in the recovery of suspected illegal drugs in her immediate possession. The initial investigation, that concluded the afternoon of June 26, resulted in the recovery of substances suspected to by marijuana, suboxone strips, tobacco, methamphetamine and cocaine.  

"Trafficking of any nature in a correctional facility creates hazards for the offender population and our staff," Plainfield Correctional Facility Warden Stanley Knight said. "Our investigators investigate all allegations of trafficking and work closely with the Hendricks County Prosecutor's Office to hold people fully accountable for such violations."

After her arrest on June 26, McGraw was transported to the Hendricks County Jail for processing.  She was arrested on allegations of the following criminal violations: 

  • Trafficking a Controlled Substance with an Inmate - Level 5 Felony
  • Dealing in a Schedule I , II and III controlled substance - Level 4 Felony

Final charging information will be determined by the Hendricks County Prosecutor's Office. 

About Trafficking:

Trafficking in a correctional facility is defined as the act of buying or selling of illegal substances or substances which may be legal but are not permitted in a correctional environment, such as the sale or trade of tobacco products.
