Madison Correctional Facility Names
Key Contributor Award Recipients

Madison, Ind. - Madison Correctional Facility Warden Jan Davis, on behalf of Commissioner Rob Carter and personnel with with Staff Development and Training, recognized three contractual staff with Key Contributor Awards. These Key Contributors are contracted by the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) to augment vital facility operations such as medical care, food preparation and distribution, and educational services. Their supportive contributions are essential to smooth and efficient prison operations.


Starla Toomey, Wexford Health Services Administrator

Starla has shown great teamwork within the Indiana Department of Correction and continuously has great communication with the administration and front line staff at the facility. Starla not only assists Madison Correctional Facility but also assist other facilities nearby when called upon. Starla received her Associate's degree in Nursing in 2004 from Ivy Tech Community College and has worked at Madison Correctional for eight years.

Lauri Young, Aramark Food Service Director

Lauri has been available to make changes quickly when needed with food services and has been very flexible with continuous changes being made within the facility due to COVID-19. Lauri has over 36 years of food service experience, working at Muscatatuck State Hospital in food service from 1984-2004 before transferring to Madison in 2004.

Gwendolyn Smith, Oakland City University Instructor

Gwendolyn has implemented new procedures within her classroom using COVID-19 guidelines.   Gwendolyn has always maintained a high success rate within the Internet Computing Core (IC3) Digital Literacy program and is determined to not let COVID-19 stand in the way of the offenders’ progress.  Gwendolyn has worked at Madison Correctional since 2017.


Warden Jan Davis stated, "I am very thankful for our contract staff and the support they give to the facility on a daily basis, but especially in difficult times, such as these."
