Captain "O" Retires From Putnamville Correctional

Greencastle, Ind.—Putnamville Correctional Facility congratulates Olan Wheeler "Captin O" on his retirement after 31 years, four months and 11 days of service.

Olan started with Putnamville Correctional Facility on January 30, 1989 as an officer. On July 23, 1995 Olan was promoted to sergeant, and on February 25, 2007 again as a lieutenant. On January 13, 2018 Olan was promoted to captain, where he remained until retirement.

“Olan Wheeler left us with large shoes to fill. "O" was a firm, fair, and consistent leader who staff looked up to," stated Deputy Warden Keith Hartzell of Putnamville Correctional. Hartzell went on to say, "We thank “O” for his years of dedicated service and providing staff with a solid leader during his tenure.”
