Putnamville Correctional Facility
proves we are 'in this together'
Greencastle, Ind.— Staff from the Putnamville Correctional Facility (ISF) teamed up with 2020 Rosie’s of the Wabash Valley and Precision Imagining Centers of Northeast Florida to provide residents and staff of the Cloverleaf Nursing Home in Brazil, Indiana with much needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Correctional Officer Mitch Falat contacted Caseworker Brooke Edwards about the need for PPE at Cloverleaf Nursing Home. Within five-minutes of posting this to Facebook, they were contacted by Josh Hammond, the President of Precision Imaging Centers of NE Florida who stated, “I would love to help”. Mr. Hammond went on to point out due to Cloverleaf’s population being high risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus the N95 type masks which offer more protection would be more beneficial. In response, Mr. Hammond donated 100 of these highly in demand masks to Cloverleaf Nursing Home.
Additionally, Unit Team Manager Dean Treash contacted a local group, the 43-member strong 2020 Rosie’s of the Wabash Valley. This formidable volunteer group is committed to assisting with COVID-19 relief efforts in their community pledged, donated, and delivered 112 cloth face masks to Cloverleaf.
The collective actions of Putnamville Correctional facility staff, Mr. Hammond, and Rosie’s of the Wabash Valley are the epitome of teamwork; these are the actions of heroes.
The Indiana Department of Correction began and continues to manufacture face masks in prison facilities. As of April 17, 2020 face masks have been supplied to each IDOC prison facility. All 27,000 offenders and 6,000 staff have received a mask. There are currently enough to also replace lost or damaged PPE.
