Indiana State Prison Participates in 2020 Polar Plunge

Valparaiso, Ind. – Recently, nineteen staff from the Indiana State Prison participated in the 2020 “Freezin for a Reason” Polar Plunge to benefits Special Olympics of Indiana. The event was held at the Valparaiso University Athletic Recreation Center.

Jumping into a freezing body of water in the middle of winter may seem like a crazy idea, but over the past 20 years, thousands upon thousands of Special Olympics Indiana supporters have risen to the challenge, braved the elements, and made the annual Polar Plunge a huge success.

Indiana State Prison raised $1,600 by holding special food sales and giving donations towards the cause. The special food sales consisted of chili cheese dogs, Italian Beef sandwiches, and cheeseburgers.

Warden Neal stated, “The Polar Plunge and Plane Pull have become great team building events for the Indiana State Prison Staff for several years now. Our staff come together through the fund raisers, our Employee Appreciation and Planning Committee or participation in the event itself!   We are proud to be associated with such a worthy cause!”
