Wabash Valley Correctional Facility Seeks
Donations for Military Troops

Carlisle, Ind. - Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) Caseworker Michelle Woolsey is currently working to gather supplies for care packages for troops deployed overseas.  The collection started on January 9, 2020, after Warden Brown gave his approval.  WVCF staff have already shown a huge amount of love and support for our troops giving non-perishable food and hygiene items.  A few of the items received have been disposable razors, chap stick, playing cards, mixed nuts, and beef jerky.  In addition, funds are being collected to help pay the shipping costs.

Michelle said that donations are being accepted though March 13, 2020.  Several hygiene items have already been received, so non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, individual packs of crackers, sunflower seeds, tuna packets, cans of Vienna sausages, granola bars, fruit snack packets, drink mixes, mixed nuts, etc. are being requested.  Michelle stated that her goal is to send 35 boxes overseas, but would welcome supplies for more!  When asked why she decided to do this, Michelle said, "I remember being deployed overseas and how it made me feel when I received a care package.  It reassured me that I was not forgotten, that people back in the States were thinking about me."

Inside each box is a note stating the following written by Michelle.  "Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (Carlisle, IN) would like to thank you for your dedication and service.  Please accept this care package as a token of our gratitude for your service to our country.  Unfortunately we cannot send one to everyone in your unit, so please feel free to distribute among yourselves or to those in need," signed by both Caseworker Woolsey and WVCF Warden Brown.

Michelle has asked you send the names and addresses of anyone you know that is deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan to Wabash Valley Correctional Facility at the address noted below by March 13, 2020.
