Chain O' Lakes Correctional Facility Offenders Fill
Over 1,500 Bags of Sand Following Noble County Flooding

Albion, Ind. – January 2020 has been unusually warm and with the warm weather has come unusually high volumes of rain. There has been so much rain, some regions of Noble County experienced flooding with parts of the county bordering on becoming declared disaster areas.

The Noble County Emergency Management Agency reached out to Chain O’ Lakes Correctional Facility requesting volunteers to fill sand bags. Ten offender volunteers spent six hours on Saturday January 12, 2020 filling over 1502 bags of sand totaling 28 tons!

"The Chain O’ Lakes offender volunteers were thankful for the opportunity to help and give back to the local community," stated Warden Charles Bowen.

Several pallets were loaded with sand bags for delivery to impacted areas so local residents could take what they needed to protect their property. Other bags were available at the Noble County Highway Department as they were being filled.
