Welcome to the first edition of the Indiana Department of Veterans’ Affairs monthly Newsletter. We see this newsletter as a way to keep you informed of the activities of IDVA and also highlight current events in the veteran community around the state.

If you know of events that should be included in future newsletters, please feel free to share with our staff.  Also, if you know of others who would enjoy receiving this newsletter, I hope you will pass it on. The information on how to subscribe is on the bottom of each issue.
 
We are honored to continue to serve Indiana’s veterans and their families, and we are committed to ensuring our veterans receive the benefits they have earned through their service to our great Nation. These are challenging times, but we are dedicated to the task at hand, and we will succeed in our mission to serve you.

IDVA to host Women Veterans Conference

Be sure to signup for IDVA's 2016 Women Veteran’s Conference, taking place on Friday, April 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This event is open to all women veterans throughout Indiana and will provide quality information regarding VA claims, benefits, health care, personal enhancement, and much more. Veteran Organizations Join Governor Pence

Veteran Organizations

Governor Mike Pence was recently joined by state leaders from the American Veterans, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Their meeting consisted of celebrating the partnership Indiana and the Big Four have, as well as a discussion on legislative and administrative accomplishments that have taken place during the first three years of the Pence administration.


Indiana Veterans' Home Receives 5-Star Rating

In January 2016, the Indiana Veterans' Home was named as a 5-Star Facility - the highest possible rating!  This was an increase from the previous rating of 4-Stars.

Gov Pence Volunteers With IDVA
In celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, IDVA employees joined Governor Mike Pence to volunteer at Shepherd Community Center.
Pence Unveils POW Honor Chair
Governor Pence joined the Indiana Chapters of Rolling Thunder to unveil the POW/MIA Chair of Honor.
IDVA Build A Bear
Thanks to the generous donation from itown church, IDVA helped deliver over 200 Build-A-Bears to children of Hoosier veterans throughout Indiana.
