Officer Noah Shahnavaz Funeral Procession to pass through Carmel
On August 6, 2022, the funeral procession for fallen Elwood Police Officer, Noah Shahnavaz, will pass through the City of Carmel. The procession will travel south on U.S. 31 as it proceeds to his final resting place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Due to the nature of the procession, it is not possible to predict exactly when it will come through Carmel, but it is expected to arrive shortly after 5 p.m.
Due to the substantial number of vehicles expected to participate in the procession, all ramps to southbound U.S. 31 will be closed as the procession passes through the city. This is likely to cause considerable delays and drivers are asked to find alternate routes during this time. We encourage anyone who wishes to view the procession and pay their respects, to park in one of the business parking lots along U.S. 31 and walk to a safe viewing location. Carmel Police asks that spectators use caution as traffic on side streets is likely to be heavier than usual due to the closure.
