Carmel Police Department announces promotions
John Foster promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations
Deputy Chief John Foster has over 29 years of experience with the Carmel Police Department. He received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and began his career with the Carmel Police Department in November of 1992 in the Operations Division where he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Foster spent numerous years in administrative lieutenant positions where he supervised the School Resource Unit and other specialty units within the department. He also spent time overseeing hiring and recruitment, department training and managing special events within the city. Foster spent five years of his career supervising the Criminal Investigations Division before being promoted to the rank of Major over the Support Division and currently serves as one of the department’s firearms instructors. Foster was a member of the SWAT team where he served as an operator, team leader and, ultimately, commander.
Brady Myers Promoted to Major of Support Division
Major Brady Myers has 22 years of experience with the Carmel Police Department. He received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and began his career with the Carmel Police Department in June of 2000 in the Operations Division where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
Myers spent many years in the Operations Division, however, he also served as the department's Rangemaster/Training Coordinator and served as an Administrative Lieutenant in the Operations Division. During his tenure with the Carmel Police Department he has overseen multiple specialty units including the FTO program, K9 unit, ERG unit, Field evidence technicians and SWAT Team. He has also been a member of the firearms instructor cadre for several years. Major Myers has also been a member of the SWAT Team for 19 years where he currently serves as the team commander.
