Devon Ginn, Visual Art & Entertainment Curator for the historic Madame Walker Theater Center in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana will coordinate special events and activities for the 2019 Indiana Arts Homecoming October 24 - 25, 2019 at the Indiana Historical Society.
Ginn is an experienced director and curator for the arts, culture, and entertainment fields with a secure emphasis and identity in arts administration, and a tremendous passion for social justice and equity.
Over time, he has grown to become a driven problem solver through seven years of direct experience in event planning, organizational development, marketing, programming, art direction, UX design and operations.
Devon has established long-lasting relationships by working alongside various nonprofit arts organizations and influential arts and culture hubs over the years. Arts and nonprofit advocacy have remained at the forefront of his drive since the beginning of his professional career in arts administration.
Classically trained in Shakespearean theatre with steady contemporary experience, Ginn travels from state to state implementing his performance poetry and creative writing lesson plans for high school and college students.
Keynote speakers and conference session program leaders will be announced soon, and registration for the 2019 Indiana Arts Homecoming will open July 22, 2019.
Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Treasurer Kelly Mitchell, and the Indiana Arts Commission recently hosted a reception at the Indiana Statehouse to honor the 2019 Hoosier Women Artists.
The competition was established in 2008 to celebrate the importance of the arts in Indiana communities and showcase the work of talented female artists throughout the state. The annual competition was announced in January, and 39 honorees were selected from more than 220 entries. The entries were judged by a panel of visual arts professionals and then selected for display by Crouch and Mitchell.
The 39 pieces of artwork will be displayed in the offices of: Lt. Gov. Crouch, Treasurer of State Kelly Mitchell, Secretary of State Connie Lawson, Auditor of State Tera Klutz, Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick, as well as in the office of First Lady Janet Holcomb in the governor's residence.
