(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) and the Indiana State Library (ISL) remind Indiana high schools of the approaching deadline to register for the 2018 Poetry Out Loud competition.
Poetry Out Loud will accept commitments from Indiana schools to participate in the state recitation process until Thursday, November 30, 2017. For more information on the competition and how to register, visit the Indiana State Library website http://www.in.gov/library/5580.htm.
Preliminary competition is held at the individual school level to determine the school's representative to the state final competition February 17, 2018 at the Indiana State Library.
The state champion receives a $200 cash prize and an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Poetry Out Loud National Finals in April. The state champion's school receives a $500 stipend to purchase poetry books.
