Hundreds expected to attend inaugural Indiana Arts Homecoming

(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today its inaugural Indiana Arts Homecoming, October 5 - 6, 2017, is officially sold-out.

"We are thrilled with the response we have received for the first of what we plan to be an annual, field-driven gathering of Indiana's arts community around a central theme," IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci said. "Our theme this year is community engagement, and widespread attendance from communities throughout the state reflects a significant interest in this topic."

Indiana Arts Homecoming will bring together artists, arts organizations, arts educators, arts supporters and advocates interested in growing Indiana's arts scene. Presenters and panel discussions will provide ideas and insights how the arts are helping advance quality of life, community development, education, tourism and more in communities large and small.

Throughout the two-day convening, participants will have the opportunity to learn about specific arts-centric community engagement projects in 11 Indiana communities, and vote for their favorite. Voting will be tabulated on the final afternoon to determine the "final four" candidates eligible for an InstaGrant to help further the success of that project. The winner of the InstaGrant will be invited to share the results of their grant at the 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming.

"Our desire is for the Indiana Arts Homecoming to not only be an annual event, but one that will be hosted in other communities around the state, and offering local, state and national experts on a variety of topics designed to advance the impact of the arts on community life," Ricci said.

The date and location of the 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming will be announced in the near future.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana.
