(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that 13 Indiana communities have been approved for creative placemaking consultancies as part of the agency's Open Scene Creative Placemaking program.
The selected communities: Anderson, Batesville, Burns Harbor, Greenfield, Logansport, Muncie, Nashville, Plymouth, Rising Sun, Rockville, Rushville, South Bend, and Terre Haute were determined to be eligible to apply after attending the IAC's From the Ground Up! creative placemaking workshop in June.
"Quality of life and place are critical to any thriving, growing community," said IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci. "People want to live and work in vibrant, creative places and the arts are a key component in creative placemaking development strategies. The leaders in these cities and towns recognize the opportunities for growth through the arts."
Each community will be matched with a consultant experienced in that community's specific cultural goals and / or needs outlined in their project proposal.
The projects were approved by the Commission during its September 15, 2017 Quarterly Business Meeting in Bloomington, Indiana.
Consultancies are expected to begin immediately and be completed by June, 2018.
