Indianapolis-based production firm earns award for Arts Commission anniversary video

(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that the video produced to celebrate the agency’s 50th anniversary recently earned a Gold ADDY Award for Indianapolis-based Think Ahead Studios®.

A 2017 ADDY Award for Public Service Online Film / Video / Sound was presented to Think Ahead Studios and Executive Producer Jason Drake during the American Advertising Awards Indianapolis event, February 24, 2017 at the Biltwell Event Center. The ADDY was awarded for the production of “Fifty Years,” celebrating the history of Indiana artists and the Indiana Arts Commission. The video was a central part of the Bicentennial Indiana Governor’s Arts Awards.

Think Ahead Studios is the video production arm of Indianapolis-based marketing firm Trendy Minds®, which earlier this year earned a 2016 Davey Award in the Film / Video category for “Fifty Years.”

“It was an honor to work with the team at the Indiana Arts Commission to create a piece to celebrate the history and breadth of art in Indiana,” said Jason Drake. “Having so many artists come together to contribute their passion and talents to the story made the experience especially meaningful. Each collaborator made the work richer and more powerful.”

Filmed at various locations around Indiana, the video features scenes reflective of the creative process found in all artistic disciplines yet is closely linked to the recipients of the Governor’s Arts Awards. The audio editing captures sounds from nature merging with original music composed by Butler University music student Timothy Carlos and performed by a quartet of Butler University music students. The video narration is an original poem, “Hoosier Quilt,” composed by Indiana State Poet Laureate Shari Wagner and narrated by 2016 Indiana State Poetry Out Loud Champion Grace Milligan.

“It was such a pleasure working with Jason and his team at Think Ahead Studios,” said Lewis C. Ricci, Executive Director of the Indiana Arts Commission. “This is another example of the young, creative talent that makes up Indiana’s Creative Economy. The Arts Commission is so pleased these media artists are being honored by their peers for their outstanding work.”

Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the awards honor excellence in advertising and cultivates the highest creative standards in the industry. Local winners proceed to district competition, and those winners proceed to national competition.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana.
