Hi County/Local Agencies,
This week I'd like to talk about transferring judicial records to the Archives. If you've ever wondered which records can go and which ones can't, this email will address just that!
The Indiana State Archives sent a memo out to the counties a few years ago in August 2019 to clarify which judicial records would be accepted for transfer. The memo, Transferring Judicial Records to IARA discusses the guidelines on accepting judicial records.
Anything on the "Transferring Judicial Records to IARA Appendix A" list can be transferred to the Archives (after you contact arc@iara.in.gov AND submit a transmittal form). Any judicial records not listed may be forwarded to the Deputy Director for a case-by-case decision.
The Indiana Judiciary and Tom Jones are aware of this memo and appendix related to judicial records.
Be safe and healthy.
