Greetings, Agency Records Managers!

You may know me (if not, hi, I'm Amy Robinson, your friendly State Agency Records Analyst and first contact for all records questions large and small), but you haven't heard from me through this mailing list very often.

You're probably used to seeing messages from IARA's Records Manager Mailing List only when we have new versions of the Records Manager Handbook available for you, or updates to the General Retention Schedule For All State Government Agencies.

You'll still receive those (news about minor changes to the General Retention Schedule will be heading your way next month, in fact), but because we're always looking for better ways to share information and interact with you, IARA Records Management is putting two new projects into effect:

a monthly bulletin sent through this mailing list, which will include both news and announcements as usual (just more often) and a short article giving you the scoop on a common records management issue or question that we hope will help you out, either now or in the future.
a monthly chat in Teams! I'll be sending out an invitation to a Teams meeting each month where interested agency records coordinators and managers can meet up with me, with other IARA staff when I can ~~rope and wrangle~~ persuade them into joining us, and with each other, to
- discuss the topic covered in in the monthly bulletin
- get the answers to records management questions that you think other agencies will also want to hear
- share news about big or exciting records projects your own agency is working on, or tips that have made your life easier when it comes to working with agency records
- get to know both Records Management staff and each other!

Our first Teams meetup will be on August 26th at 11 a.m. to 11:30 eastern time, and we'll be using it as a test-run, just to familiarize people with Teams meetings if you're not already familiar, introduce ourselves, and figure out if the time and day are a good fit for everyone. There'll be more information in your meeting invitation, but rest assured that you don't have to be a member of a Team to attend the meeting, or even have the Teams software on your computer.

I think that the more we connect with each other, the better we become at doing our own jobs and helping other people do theirs, which is what IARA is all about. I'm hoping you agree, and that we'll see and hear more from all of you over the coming months.
