Join us this Saturday, March 21 for a Women’s History Month celebration featuring keynote speaker Sekile Nzinga, an intersectional feminist executive leader whose work invites us to think deeply about power, possibility and the ways women continue to shape institutions and communities. The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Art Studio 928 at 451 South Blvd. After the keynote, join us for a facilitated reflective conversation – a space to pause, consider what resonated and share our perspectives with each other. Yard sign recycling at Public Works Center
With the March 17 Gubernatorial Primary Election now complete, residents are invited to recycle political yard signs through a special collection. Corrugated plastic signs and aluminum frames can be dropped off for recycling between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays now through March 31 in the first-floor lobby at the Public Works Center, 201 South Blvd. The corrugated plastic and aluminum frames used in yard signs are not eligible for recycling through the Village’s residential recycling program, so residents are asked to refrain from disposing of the signs in their recycling carts and instead use the drop-off system at Public Works. The service will be offered again in November following the general election. For more information, contact 708.358.5700 or publicworks@oak-park.us.

Free Narcan available to help prevent overdoses
Opioid overdose prevention boxes are installed in easily accessible, public-facing locations throughout Oak Park. Each box contains pouches with doses of naloxone and instructions on how to provide overdose first aid. Naloxone, also commonly referred to as the trademarked name Narcan, is a safe medication that works to reverse the effects of an overdose from opioids such as heroin, prescription painkillers and fentanyl. Find more information about the Oak Park Public Health Department initiative, including a map where the boxes are located, at www.oak-park.us/naloxone.
