SMC Flood Alert Status Dropped to Yellow
Lake County Stormwater Management Commission has lowered its current Flood Threat Alert Status from Orange to Yellow. This signals that water levels have dropped to where minor flooding is only in a limited number of locations.
There were light showers across the county yesterday, but it was not a significant amount. There is also a chance of light showers today, with the potential for storms on Sunday and Monday. Currently, this rainfall is not expected to significantly affect river levels in Lake County. More information about weather forecasts, watches, warning and advisories can be found at the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office Chicago.
We’re still monitoring river levels and will continue to provide updates and details as needed.
Fox River & Chain O’Lakes Area
The Upper Fox River and Chain O’Lakes area is still in Minor Flood status. The Lower Fox River in the Barrington area has just entered Minor Flood status. The Fox River and Chain O’Lakes are slowly lowering, but could remain high for another week.
The Upper Fox River and Chain O'Lakes area is anticipated to drop out of Minor Flood status over the weekend. The Lower Fox River in the Barrington area is anticipated to drop out of Minor Flood status by the end of next week, as long as there is no significant rainfall.
There continues to be a threat of flood impacts to businesses and properties in these areas. Please stay alert if you’re located in a flood-prone area.
