Illinois Childhood Immunization Recommendations
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recently shared a memorandum endorsing the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2026 Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule from February 4, 2026. The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center supports IDPH’s endorsement.
Healthcare providers are recommended to promote and administer vaccines to all children in accordance with the AAP 2026 Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule. To ensure equitable access to these lifesaving immunizations, vaccines will continue to be covered for Illinois residents through private and public insurance plans, as well as the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Section 317 Immunization Programs.
It is important to note that while we are sharing this formal endorsement, past Illinois immunization recommendations and school health requirements are unchanged. The Health Department carefully evaluates all state and national public health guidance, and affirms that county-wide public health recommendations are based on sound science, clinical evidence, and the best available data.
Our continued priority is to safeguard children, families, and the community from vaccine-preventable diseases. For questions regarding the Health Department’s immunization recommendations and guidance, please contact the Immunization Program at (847) 377-8189.
