County Clerk Announces Lottery for School Candidates in April 2019 Consolidated Election

WAUKEGAN, Illinois – County Clerk Robin M. O’Connor will conduct a lottery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the Lake County Main Courthouse Lobby, 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois to determine order of the school board and Lake County Regional Board of School candidates’ names on April’s ballot.

A lottery is required when two or more candidates file nominating papers for the identical office during the first day of filing when the Clerk's office is open and the last hour of last day of filing. The filing period for the April election was December 10 to 17.

Since candidates seeking office in a municipality, park district, community college, waterway management agency, or fire protection district file directly with that local unit of government, each district will hold its own lottery, if necessary. Those seeking office as Lake County Regional Board of School trustee or school board member filed with the Lake County Clerk, per state election law.
