Hello Neighbors

As spring approaches (again) later this week, communities are cleaning, planting, celebrating and planning. It's only 5 weeks until the Aquatic Center, Barefoot Bay and beaches are scheduled to open!

If you want to get excited about opportunities for personal and family fun, use one of the park district links below. There you can find more detail, including brochures with pages of activities, registration forms (ukulele lessons anyone?) and more.

If you shop at the Ivanhoe Walgreens store and live west of Rt. 60/83, you may have been frustrated trying to exit the parking lot westbound on Rt. 176. For months, I have inquired about that exit.  The barricades were finally removed this past Friday. Think safety first when you use this exit. As you know from many stores and service stations you use, this exit is also at a right turn lane. Shoppers will need to be watchful before exiting to travel west on Rt. 176

Before you pay your property taxes, please read below and watch a video that explains the entire, complex process. Once you understand the process, you can use a new online tool (below) to understand how much of your money is distributed to each taxing entity.

This Sunday, April 22nd, is Earth Day.  The paragraphs below highlight a number of activities for that day. Celebrating the Day reminds and encourages us to be mindful about recycling, for example, all through the year. Your communities have a number of other events scheduled.   Details are available through links below.

Please call or email me with your concerns and questions.

Lake County residents are one step closer to being able to experience the breathtaking beauty of Ethel’s Woods Forest Preserve in Antioch. Ethel’s Woods currently is closed and does not have public access as it undergoes a major multi-year land restoration effort. Planned public access improvements to the 500-acre preserve will include an entrance drive from Miller Road, a 25-car parking lot, toilets, a 0.7-mile gravel loop trail and three scenic overlooks. A 0.7-mile section of the Millennium Trail will run along the western edge of the preserve.
