I have heard from several residents who are concerned about
the water quality in the Brooks Farm subdivision. Some customers may be experiencing discolored (yellow) water through
their faucets. Lake County is performing tests daily and testing the water in
this system weekly. The tests show that the drinking water is safe to consume
and is in compliance with EPA regulatory standards. We recognize residents are
concerned and may choose to drink bottled water during this time.
Iron naturally occurs in well water. The yellow
water is due to higher concentrations of iron in the water due to an unexpected
failure of the treatment system. Public Works is using a back-up system and
performing line flushing to reduce the iron concentration while the County
expedites an emergency repair, which is projected to be complete within the
next 90 to 120 days. Find out more.

Lake
County Public Works has begun its semi-annual water hydrant flushing program.
After hydrant flushing, customers may notice a slight discoloration of the water.
Residents are urged not to do laundry during periods of flushing to avoid
clothes to be stained. This is not harmful and will dissipate after a short
time. It is recommended to run cold water for several minutes to clear your
pipes. View the schedule.
