The March 20 Primary Election is fast approaching. View the voter information guide to see a complete list of candidates, public questions, early voting sites, and more.  

Election Ahead

Three Ways to Vote

Vote from the Comfort of Your Home
An application to receive a ballot by mail is required for each election before a ballot can be sent to the voter. The County Clerk’s website offers online and downloadable forms. Your application must be submitted to the Clerk’s office by March 15, and your voted ballot must be postmarked by midnight on Election Day.

Vote Early
Vote and register at any early voting site regardless of where you live in Lake County. Early voting will be available until March 19. Hours and dates vary at the 15 different locations. Find your closest early voting site.


Election Day
Those choosing to vote on Election Day must go to their precinct’s polling location. To find your site, use our Polling Place Locator. Voter registration also will be available in all precinct polling locations on Election Day and at the County Clerk’s Office in Waukegan.


Preview Your Personalized Ballot
Did you know you can preview your personalized ballot before heading to the polls? Visit to confirm your registration. Then you can print your ballot preview to take into the voting booth as a reference.

Lake Zurich To Replace Water Meters

The Village of Lake Zurich will replace residential and commercial water meters village-wide. The existing mechanical meters are 23 years old and have exceeded their expected service life. The new meters will replace these older, underperforming units with new technology that will alert on high water usage, tampering and aid in leak detection. Learn more

New Dunn Museum in Libertyville Opens March 24

Arrive curious and leave inspired when you visit the new Bess Bower Dunn Museum in Libertyville. Come to the free grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24 to meet our Dryptosaurus dinosaur and paleoartist Tyler Keillor who created her. Explore exhibitions on your own or take a guided tour, enjoy drop-in activities, and stroll through the gift shop. The Dunn Museum is on Winchester Road between Route 45 and Butterfield Road in Libertyville. Learn more

Your One-Stop Shop to Get Your Passport

Spring is almost here, which means it’s time to start making vacation plans! If travel plans will bring you outside the country, the Lake County Circuit Clerk’s Office can serve as your one-stop shop to apply for or renew your passport. No appointment is required. Learn from a National Weather Service meteorologist on the nature of tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and other severe weather systems, how to report severe weather to the National Weather Service, the role of trained spotters, and more.

Apply for Sheriff’s Association Scholarship

Lake County students who plan to pursue a higher education during the 2018-19 academic year can now apply for a $500 college scholarship to be awarded by the Illinois Sheriff’s Association. Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents and be enrolled full time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Find out more

Maple Syrup Hikes
Learn how trees work and about the sweet sap of sugar maples. Ryerson Woods is one of the few places in Lake County where conditions are right for maple syrup production, and where trees grow to a diameter and height that allows for tapping. Everyone gets a taste. The program also is available as a school or scout field trip. Call 847-968-3321. Hikes start every half-hour from noon to 2 p.m. March 17 and 18 and 24 and 25 at Ryerson Woods. Learn more

Join the Youth Conservation Corps
This summer jobs program is designed to employ high school youth in natural resources, construction, and park maintenance related projects. Recruitment is underway now for the 2018 season. View the application for details.

Crew members work together in teams to build trails and boardwalks, restore natural areas and waterways, and complete basic preserve maintenance projects. Additionally, crew members receive training in first aid, basic work and life skills, construction skills and environmental awareness. The program runs for eight weeks each summer from mid-June through early August. Learn more
