WAUKEGAN, Illinois – County Clerk Carla N. Wyckoff announced that ballots for the March 20th Primary Election will be available on Tuesday, Feb. 20 for those choosing to vote early at the Clerk’s office or by mail.
Candidate certification and ballot printing were delayed because the court was reviewing a decision by the Illinois State Board of Elections regarding an objection filed against an attorney general candidate. Without state certification of all the candidates, ballots could not be finalized and printed. As a result, in-person early voting in the County Clerk’s office and voting by mail had been delayed throughout the state.
In-person early voting at the Clerk’s office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, March 2nd at the Lake County Clerk’s Office, 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Beginning March 5, early voting is available at all 15 early voting sites throughout the county. For early voting, Lake County residents may use any location regardless of where they live. Eleven of the early voting sites are open until Saturday, March 17. The other four sites offer extended evening and weekend hours and are open until Monday, March 19. Visit LakeCountyClerk.info and click on “March 2018 Primary” icon to find a convenient location near home, work, or along the way.
Registered voters wishing to vote by mail can complete a personalized online application at LakeVoterPower.info after logging in and confirming their voter registration status. The last day to request a ballot by mail is March 15. Voted ballots must be returned to the Clerk’s office bearing a postmark no later than midnight on Election Day.
